Five friends playing music LIVE in a room. No rehearsal, no retakes.

Having been on hiatus for a couple of years while band members went to university, started new jobs and played with other bands, Febria reconvened to record some new songs and re-record some old ones. ‘Feel’ was the prime motivation for recording the songs live, as even the best of our previous studio recordings were quite dry compared with how they sounded when we performed them at gigs. Many of our favourite albums were recorded in a similar way (New Adventures in Hi-Fi, for example), so we were following in a grand tradition. In the very few places where overdubs were added they were still played in one take, to preserve the spontaneous feel of the recordings. Recording 11 songs live was quick and easy – mixing them, and making them go from sounding like a cacophonous mess to what you hear here, was not. It was a mammoth task, accomplished with infinite aplomb, diligence, patience and brilliance by the inimitable Jim ‘Whitey’ White.
