about

L’Esprit d’Escalier

This is one of the first songs we ever wrote*, and doesn't particularly sound like anything we've written since; it's full of 7th chords though, and we do try to use those as often as we can. Essentially, the whole song is about leaving a room. Fergus suggested the title (yes: Fergus does know some French!), which is the term for when you only think of something really good to say after the conversation/argument has finished.

* in fact, it's the first song we ever played live as Febria. This particular performance was notable for Forward accidentally pressing the Demo button on the keyboard about 30 seconds into the song so that, for a brief time, a horribly cheesy, synthy song was playing over ours. In retrospect, this could be interpreted as us being really inventive and avant-garde – playing two songs at once. But it wasn't. It was just stupid.

about

Febria Wales, UK

Febria ('FEBB-ree-uh') consists of four/five very good friends. After recording several EPs and a full-length album, and playing many gigs around the UK, the band went on a long hiatus (hey, it works for Tool!). We then reconvened and released The Sea Around Us EP, and have now recorded a new album called 'Longing', which was released on 11th November. We hope you enjoy it! ... more
